Rosarian Altar Society

This society is open to all women of the parish. It sponsors an annual communion breakfast and conducts fund raisers to assist the parish. The Rosarians meet the 1st Tuesday of the month. Their meetings consist of prayers, speakers and social planning. They assist in building community by their interest and concern in reaching out to other members in times of need, tragedy or sorrow. The recitation of the Rosary is prayed prior to meetings.

 

Holy Name Society

This group is open to all men of the parish. The members meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and host informative guest speakers, plan their annual activities, as well as things social. The members assist the parish with some fund raising and also act builders of the community in reaching out to members who experience difficulties of different nature. They spiritually aim at keeping the Holy Name of Jesus respected at all time.

 

Pastoral Council

Members particularly selected by the pastor to advise him and his staff regarding the various needs of the parish community and business. The group reflects the priorities established by the Archdiocese Synod of 1994. They meet the last Monday of every month - except for the summer months.

 

Evangelization Team

Parishioners that meet to discover and explore methods of developing a welcoming atmosphere in the parish, assisting in promoting the love of God among parishioners, promoting the faith, and reach out in the Name of Jesus. Separate mailings are made to new comers to the parish with follow-up phone calls, etc.

 

Baptismal Team

Trained married couples who assist the pastor in preparing parents in the teachings of the Catholic Church concerning the sacrament of Baptism. The new parents meet in the team couple's home for instruction on only one evening. A presentation is made, enlightening the new parents on their obligations and responsibilities as Christian mothers and fathers.

 

Pastoral Care Ministry

This ministry serves the homebound with prayer, shares regular celebrations of Mass, and brings Communion to the infirmed The ministry also involves visiting the sick at local hospitals and the Clark Nursing Home.

 

Families of Nazareth Movement

Families of Nazareth Movement is an international movement of Catholic faithful who recognize the pre-eminence of God in all their activities. Allowing Christ to grow in us is of primary concern because such an orientation enables our activities to conform more fully to the working of the Holy Spirit in us. Meetings take place Thursday evening at 7:30 pm at St. Agnes. The purpose of these meetings is to give praise to God through His Blessed Mother.

 

Food for the Needy

Food collected daily to assist those who are in need. This program assist local families and directs the food to other parish food banks as well.

 

Pro-Life Phone Tree

A volunteer and effective method for all to influence important legislation when immediate action is required concerning pro-life issues. This project adds an important voice to the ongoing debates in Congress regarding the sanctity and dignity of human life. Presently there are 133 volunteers who willing cal our representatives to request their support regarding pro-life issues. Each of the ten teams has a captain.

 

Pro-Life Program

The central task of this small committee is to keep the awareness of parishioners of their need to pray for the unborn, have concern for the elderly and to discover, and make others rediscover, the inviolable dignity of every human person. Some activities are conducted - especially during the months of January and October - to build up the awareness.

 

Soup Kitchen Volunteers

St. Agnes, heeding Christ's admonition, "Whatever you do for the least of my brethren you do for me, " sends food and volunteers to St. Joseph's Social Service Center, Elizabeth, NJ, on the first Saturday of every other month where they serve a complete meal to 150 to 250 indigent and homeless people. Baked goods are accepted on those Saturdays for this ministry. In addition, sandwiches are made once a month at St. Agnes parish kitchen, and brought to a place of distribution for the next day. Anyone wishing to volunteer for this act of charity is always welcomed. They need only inquire at the rectory office for further information. The Soup Kitchen is used as a "service projects" for the candidates preparing for Confirmation.

 

Vocation Committee

One thing is certain: God does not call anyone to be "un" anything. God has either called us, or He is preparing and calling us to discover His plan for our lives. The Vocation Committee aims to foster an awareness how God is calling in this parish of St. Agnes. It will focus on the great need for priests and religious brothers and sisters who will work in the Lord's vineyard.

 

Hospitality Committee

Volunteers who prepare refreshments for fellowship occasions. No meetings required.

 

Bereavement Group

Members of this team reach out to our brothers and sisters in Christ who experience pain and loss as the result of the death of a loved one. Although not trained professionals, their mission is to journey with those who are hurting and in pain since we all must travel the same road. With faith in Christ, the team seeks to listen, share and extend compassion with an aim of restoring hope. The team is required to attend a nine week program of training offered by the archdiocese
