Class Attendance

Attendance

We understand that family events and illnesses may prevent your son/daughter from attending every class. However, since our classes are so few, we permit three absences a year for our in person students grades 1-5 program and four absences for our in person students in grades 6-8.  If your child misses more than that, you will need to schedule a meeting with our Director to discuss the situation and to see if movement to the next grade is warranted or a repeat of the current grade is needed.

Please remember, that we do offer a homeschool option that you are allowed to partake in if you find that your child's schedule does not permit them to attend in person on a regular basis.

For our Homeschool families, we permit one parent absence from our three meetings per year.

Confirmation

Our Confirmation candidates are required to attend a service day, Reconciliation and rehearsal.  This is in addition to two Masses that are dedicated to our Confirmation candidates.  Please take note of those dates when they are released and inform any outside activities of those dates to avoid conflicts.  Please keep in mind that Confirmation requires a two year sacrament preparation requirement as outlined by the Archdiocese of Newark.

Communion

The sacrament of Communion is a special time in a Catholic's life.  If your child has completed first grade, he/she is able to continue their Catholic faith formation in second grade and make their Communion.  In addition to CFD, students who are making their Communion are required to attend a Sacrament class in person.  Our Sacrament classes begin November 13th and continue for 14 weeks.  During this time, students will also make their First Reconciliation in January and their First Holy Communion in the Spring.  Please note that the Sacrament of Communion requires a two year sacramental prep as outlined by the Archdiocese of Newark.
