First Eucharist/Communion
The sacrament of Communion is a special time in a Catholic's life. If your child has completed first grade, he/she is able to continue their Catholic faith formation in second grade and make their First Eucharist. Sacramental preparation is a two year process and therefore students in both first and second grade are required to attend 14 Masses from October to April and complete a Mass Intention card for each Mass attended.
In addition to filling the requirements of our CFD program, students who are making their Communion are required to attend an in person Sacrament class held on Mondays from 6:30 - 8pm (see schedule for start and end dates). Students will make their First Reconciliation in January/February and their First Holy Eucharist in the Spring. Parents will have the ability to choose their first, second, etc. Communion dates.
Please note that the Sacrament of Communion requires a two year sacramental prep as outlined by the Archdiocese of Newark and attendance in a first grade CFD program is required. If your child didn’t not complete first grade in St. In Agnes's CFD program, you must provide documentation that he/she completed it at another parish. Unfortunately submissions from online CFD programs are not permitted.
